Road Trip | part one

Day one | Saturday, May 11th

As soon as Chris got off work Saturday afternoon, we hit the road.
Destination: Leland, North Carolina.
...it took us a few days to get there.

We left the house just before 1 o'clock,
stopped for gas,
grabbed lunch to go (Cam fell asleep with a mouth full of burrito)
& we were outta here.
I knew we did not want to drive 19 hours straight with the boys,
so we broke it up a little.

The first night we stayed in Memphis, TN.
We pulled into town just as the Thunder v Grizzlies game was ending.
The Thunder had just lost... boo!
Down Town Memphis was crazy town.
Our hotel was right across the street from the FedEx Forum, where they play.
It also backs up to Beale Street

We were within walking distance (or a short trolley ride)
to a few things I thought would be fun for the boys.
After running into a few of the Thunder players in the lobby, we got checked in & headed to dinner.
We got ribs from Rendezvous to go.
Delish!

After a little naked dancing by Campbell, it was bed time.
All four of us were TIRED

Remember how I said our hotel backed up to Beale Street?
Yeah, it was a little loud.
A band was literally jamming away right outside of our window until 2am.
So... if you ever stay at at the Westin on Beale Street with kids,
ask to be on the opposite side of the hotel.
The boys actually weren't phased once I turned on their white noise.
... but it could have been a problem had they not been so so tired.

Day two | Sunday, May 12th

I woke up to this nice little surprise.
It was Mother's Day.
Chris was so excited when he found out there was a Starbucks in the lobby of our hotel.
I was too :)
For our real breakfast, we headed over to Miss Polly's on Beale Street
for some down home, southern cookin'.
Very appropriate since my mom's name is Polly & it being Mothers Day & all.
Chris & I loved our omelets, while Campbell loved the big stuffed chicken out front.
I still regret not getting chicken in waffles though.
Next, we took a stroll down to the Mississippi river.
Campbell got to ride a monorail & trolley in the same day.
Best. Day. Ever.
We played around at Mud Island for a little bit
& collected our first rock of the trip before catching a trolley back to the hotel.
... and then we were back on the road, headed for Atlanta.
