Emerson Teafatiller Mack

He's here!
...here's how it all went down:

6:00 am
I checked in to the hospital.
St. Francis in Tulsa, OK

6:30 am
Laying in my hospital bed.
Room 5.
Pitocin started.
Right off the bat I was having contractions about 4 minutes apart.

8:20 am
Dr. Nilson came to check on me.
90% effaced & dilated to a 4.
We're ready for an epidural.
He'll be back in an hour to break my water.

9:30 am
My epidural is in & my water is broken.
I am feeling great... anxious to meet my sweet boy.

10:00 am
Dilated to a 7.

10:30 am
Starting to feel pressure.
Dilated to a 9!
We're ready to start pushing...
just as soon as my Dr. gets back from breakfast.

one contraction & 3 pushes later
Emerson Teafatiller Mack is born at 10:53 am.
7 lbs 15 oz.
20 1/4 inches long.
Tons of [redish] hair!
I can't imagine labor going any more perfectly!
We wanted Campbell to be the first to meet his baby bro.
He wasn't super interested.
Which I am ok with... I'd rather that than being overly interested.
So far he seems to only really get jealous when Emerson is crying.
Then he immediately needs to be held as well.
We came home the following afternoon just as it was time for Grandma Polly to go back home :(
Emerson wore the same outfit home as Campbell did.
They look a lot a like but still so different.
................................... Emerson
.................................. Campbell
So far Emerson is an easy baby.
He is eating & sleeping well & rarely cries.
When he is super mad he does have a deep, manly little cry.
Pretty cute.

His bilirubin levels are slightly elevated.
We're keeping a close eye on it though & hope that it drops down before light therapy is necessary.

We think his hair is going to be more blonde... maybe strawberry blonde than red.
It seems to look lighter & lighter everyday so far.

I am so overwhelmed with happiness.
I can't even imagine being anymore in love with our little family.
We are so blessed!
Life is good!

Final Days as a Family of 3

For the last few days we have been trying to do something extra fun each day until baby #2 decides to come meet us.
Today we went to the zoo.
Campbell is a little chicken all of a sudden.
He hated the train & the merry-go-round
even though he has ridden both before & loved them.
Notice the death grip he has on his dad in all three pictures below.
He especially loves anything that says "Roar" right now.
He will also tell us what an elephant, monkey & seal say.
Cutest. Boy. Ever.
5 more days [tops] as a family of 3!?!
Good thing... cause really, could I get any bigger?!
Doubt it.

Opening Ceremonies

Last night we had a few friends over to watch the opening ceremonies.
We were having so much fun we kept forgetting to take pictures.
... I'll do my best to work with what we did take.

Let's begin with the first photo of the night ;)
Poor campbell fell face first down the slide.
No tears though... his cousins were there. He had to be tough!
We were going for an American theme.
Red White & Blue to wear.
And a little hot dog bar to grub on.

After dinner we all went out to the back yard for a little friendly competition.
We played Darchery & Bonker Bocce.
What do you know... USA took home the gold.
The pressure was on since we were on our home turf.

We capped off the night with an Ice Cream Bar complete with American toppings.
This was when I realized we didn't have very many pictures :(
I snapped a quick one of what was left & called it good.

Summer Bucket List

To Do: play in the rain... check

The only rule we have for our summer bucket list is that we have to do everything as a family.
This morning Chris & I were happy to just watch as Campbell knocked this one off the list for us.

I let Zoe out & Campbell insisted on going out too... even though it was pouring rain.
He wasn't phased in the least.
The boy would live outside if it was up to him.

And then it was time to come inside.
He wasn't happy about that.
Someday he'll thank me for not letting him get struck by lightening ;)
