Graduation Road Trip

At the beginning for the month, the Stanton crew made the trek to Battle Mountain for our nieces graduation.
It is likely the last time any of us will go to Battle Mountain since my sister Misty and her family will be moving to New Mexico in a couple of weeks.

While we were all together we also got to celebrate Vince’s birthday.
Look at that. Pure happiness, from one weirdo to another.
The following day Brooklyn had a party at the park with a group a friends.
No party is complete for Campbell without dipping his head in a bucket of ice…
or some “parkour" for Emerson.
It was a pretty standard road trip.
Especially the toe sucking at the end for Emerson.
Crazy kid!
We love you B!
Congratulations girl.

8 years & counting...

Chris & I made a quick trip to Sedona for our 8th anniversary.
This was the first time we have left the boys overnight.
No worries, my brothers came to the rescue & stayed with the boys.
Of course Campbell would get sick and throw up while we were gone.

we stayed :: Los Posadas

We loved it so much we went back the next week…

September | update

I have a lot of catching up to do.
Since Emerson's birthday we have stayed pretty busy.

The boys and I just got back from a 12 day road trip.
First we stopped in Las Vegas to see my brother Wade and his sweet boys. They are so great with their little cousins.
I am excited to finally just be a quick 5 hour drive away. We will definitely be visiting often.
...that's your warning Wade :)

Next we headed to Dardanelle, California with my mom for my Aunt Patty & Uncle Jim's 50th wedding anniversary celebration. Very seldom does anyone stay married for 50 years these days. I couldn't imagine missing such a special occasion for two people who are so special to my family.

I hope this is what 50 years looks like for Chris & me.
Uncle Jim l o v e s Aunt Patty, and she knows it!

Does that mountain view look familiar?
If you've ever watched Little House on the Prairie, it should.

Some of my favorite memories as a child are from going to visit their cabin in the mountains. I was so excited to take the boys to one of my happy places.
And happy they were. Dirty & happy.

On the way back down the mountain we stopped to snap a few quick picture of Campbell & the awesome view (Emerson was asleep already)

...and then once more for a puke break.
Campbell got car sick :/
I think he'd say it was worth it after getting to play in the river.

Our final leg of the trip before heading back home was to Battle Mountain, NV. We got to spend time with my sister Misty & her family.
I love watching my nieces & nephews play their sports. Seriously love it.
It helps that they totally kick... um butt.
I also love how much Misty (& her family) love my boys.
We must have been too busy having fun to take any pictures... doh!
Misty, will you send me what you have please?

We had a great time but are so happy to be home.

And for all the grandparents, an update on the boys...

Campbell is definitely two.
I try not to use the phrase "terrible two", but oh boy, some days lately have been preeeeetty terrible.
OK, not usually the whole day... just large chunks of it :)
Thankfully he still naps.
My sister enjoyed pointing out that he is a lot like his mom was at that age.  Thanks.

He reminds me of the children's poem There was a little girl.
You know the part that says when she he was good she he was very very good, but when she he was bad she he was horrid!
Aside from the attitude, back talking, whining, crying, pushing his bother down, & crossing his arms while telling me "NO"...
Cam is a sweet boy. I dare even say very very good.
He is usually willing to give BIG kisses (he pulls you in for a long kiss right on the mouth).
When he isn't playing defense against "baby Emerson" he is learning to be a very sweet big brother.

And he says the cutest things...

"Whaaaaaat?! No way!"
"Mom, you okay Mom?"
(After I sneeze or say ow. Every time.)

And Emerson is definitely a toddler.
He has 8 teeth, waves, says momma, dada, ta-da, and shakes his head yes & no.
He is learning to throw balls, & loves climbing, playing peek-a-boo, & climbing.

He is a sweet, mellow boy.
...when he isn't in the mood to climb.
Even then he is still sweet & will flash you a cheesy grin when he gets busted.
