Emerson | 7 months

Thats right, 7 months.
I am that much of a slacker.
His 6 month update has been on my to do list for a month now.
Better late than never I guess.
 At 6 months:
weight: 18 lbs 1 oz (57%)
height: 27 inches (66%)
head: 43 1/2 centimeters (40%)

As you can see,
Emerson is fascinated with his tongue again.
It all started when his teeth began to cut.
He has 2 by the way. Both on the bottom. 4 more are getting close.

He has a stern face & a deep voice.
He is loud & can be pretty demanding for such a little squirt.

He can say momma, dada & a bunch of other gibberish.

His deep belly laugh sounds just like his brothers.
A tickle to his sweet spot (under his armpit) & the infectious giggle is sure to begin.
He is quick to smile... when he isn't playing hard to get.
Once he warms up it doesn't take much for him to flash a grin.

The boy loves his food.
The first bite each day, is like his very first taste all over again. The facial expressions are priceless.
When I nurse him, he always searches for my finger to hold.
And...
wait for it...

He is finally taking a bottle now & then. What a relief!
I thought this day may never come.

 Emerson adores his brother.
He loves to watch Campbell, grab at him & give him big slobbery "kisses".

Instead of turning from side to side to see what is behind him,
he just throws his head back instead.
And when he is really stretching to reach far,
his pointer finger crosses over his middle finger as he reaches.

He has mastered sitting & wants to crawl so bad.
For now he has figured out that pushing himself backwards is easier.

Sleep is for the birds these days. He is waking up every four hours to eat again.
I'm hoping this phase is almost over.
I'm sure after we get this move over with & a new schedule in place, sleep will find me again.
His hair is getting thicker & redder, although you cant really tell in these pictures.
His cheeks & thighs are perfectly chubby & he has little baby man boobs.
And oh, those blue eyes of his make me melt.

Campbell | Second Birthday

The birthday celebrations started on Campbell Eve.
Just like the two years prior, we strolled around the Tulsa Zoo.
Chris & I started this tradition the day before Campbell was born.
The purpose then was trying to walk that little munchkin out.
Yes, we were those creepy adults at the zoo with no kids.
His posse consisted of;
Kathy & the Henry kids
Jared, Kristen & their boys
Casey, Lauren & McKinley
& the Macks of coarse.

Getting in the zoo this year was kind of a hot mess.
First, we had to wake Campbell up from his nap which I always hate doing.
He dose too!
After stopping to grab him a quick bite to eat, we finally get to the gate.
Chris left my purse in the car.
Ok, I left my purse in the car, but don't tell him I admitted that.
As he ran back to get it, we figured out that our zoo pass had expired.
So we pay. We're in.
And what do you know...
Campbell runs right through the only mud puddle in sight.
In his of white canvas shoes. At least he didn't fall in it.

He wasn't really phased by it so we carry on...

Cam loves those Henry boys. Tay, McKinley & Seth too!
He is always trying to keep up with the big kids.
Seriously dude... you aren't quite ready to scale that rock wall yet.
Carter is especially good at hanging out with the CamMan.
I keep telling him when he is old enough I will hire him :)
The next day, the big day,
Campbell woke up to a house full of balloons & some really fun presents.
He would have been satisfied to just have the balloons,
but the tool set is fun too :)

Seriously, he is just the cutest!
Lots of people that love his little guts showed up later to help celebrate his big day.
We served all of his favorite foods &
his guest's brought him signed books in lieu of gifts.
He hit the book jackpot.

... and he had, had enough :)
so like any normal 2 year old, he stuffed himself inside a gift bag.
At two years old Cam is weighing in at 25 pound 4 ounces (18%),
measuring 33 inches tall (16%)
& holding his monster brain in his 42 1/2 cm noggin (45%)

He still loves animals & their sounds.
He is finally showing interest in colors, letters & shapes.
He loves "Ninnie & Dadee" (Minnie & Daisy) aka pink & purple,
play doh & coloring
being outside
making messes
cheese crackers (goldfish, cheese its...)
fruit & juice.

He is speaking better every day...
in his very own unique dialect that I spend a lot of time translating for everyone.
Too many consonants in one word trip him up a little
& then he forgets about pronouncing the vowels all together.

We have started playing a game with my family called "What is Campbell Saying?"
I record him saying something on my phone
& then text it to them.
They all take turns guessing what he is saying.
Misty understand Cam Lingo the best so far.

I get what he is saying most of the time
which I guess is all that matters for now since I am home with him everyday.

Cam is a boys, boy.
He climbs on EVERYTHING,
falls often,
is loud & messy.
He is fascinated with his penis
& thinks things that are stinky are funny.

He plays hard!
All. Day. Long.

Most importantly he loves his momma.
His dad & bebe too!

The Little Things

Right now I am laying on the floor of Campbell's room next to his bed.
My arms are shoved under said bed & my face is smooshed against it so that he won't see the glow of my phone.
I am patiently waiting for him to fall asleep.
If I don't play on my phone while I wait, I fall asleep.
This white noise machine works better on me than him lately :)
We've been in here for almost 30 minutes already... pretty typical.

Annnnyway... The point of this is for my memory.

I hope to never forget his perfectly small, soft, warm hands patting my back.
Checking for a reaction.
Maybe I'll let him out of bed to watch "Ninnie & Dadee" one more time?
No reaction.
So his sweet little lips smooch my cheek.
He pats my back some more & softly rubs my shoulder.
He whispers "oh, Momma" & it takes all my will power to not scoop him up & give him the worlds biggest bear hug.
I can hear how much he loves me in his voice.

In true ball bag fashion... warm tears fill my eyes.
Man, I love this boy!
More every day.
How is that even possible?!

You always hear about the unconditional love parents have for their kids
but what really overwhelms me is the way Cam loves me.
More tears.
It's true, pure & easy.
He knows no different.
I am his safe place.
A kiss or a laugh from me & everything is fine again.

Being a mom is the best.
Being his mom is the best.
Even his sweet little snoring is the best.
