We packed up and headed to Dallas for Father's Day Weekend.
Our bucket list is now much smaller.
To Do: Go on a Road Trip... check
Our first stop was at a little donut shop before we left town.
Campbell had his first sprinkled donut and loved it....
mostly just the frosting & sprinkles.
To Eat: @ a Donut Shop... check
After breakfast we were back on the road.
Campbell slept the entire way!
It was awesome.
He woke up just in time to enjoy his first time eating at In-N-Out.
To Eat: In-N-Out Burger... check
Now that our bellies were full & very satisfied we were on to our first activity...
To Do: Go to a Children's Museum... check
Whoever said Disney Land is the happiest place on earth,
has never seen my little guy at the Children's Museum.
He LOVED every second of it.
First, he got to run around and look at all the stuffed animals in the Nature Building.
Pure happiness.
He would run to each display window, stop, point & say "hi!"
...then off to the next.
The jaguars & bears were definitely his favorite.
Before moving on Chris & Cam strolled around a little pond we found near by.
The excitement continued in the Science Building....
his bubble machine we play with in the back yard
may never be as exciting after making jumbo bubbles at the museum.
Looking through pictures
I noticed Campbell has picked up a new look.
This must be his "thinking/working hard" face.
His dad & I both have one.
I suck my cheeks in, like Im making a fish face.
Chris sticks his tongue out, just a little bit,
while wiggling it back & forth over his bottom lip.
Campbell's favorite spot in our hotel room was right by the huge window.
After we got all checked in & settled,
I changed Campbell out of his stinky wet clothes,
& we went down stairs for dinner.
That night was rough... to say the least.
I thought Cam would be so exhausted that he would fall right to sleep.
Not so much!
At 9:30 we turned off all the lights hoping he would lie down and zonk out.
At 12:00, I found myself pushing him around the room in his stroller
after all other attempts to help him fall asleep had failed.
By 12:40 he was FINALLY asleep.
Although tired & frustrated to tears at times,
it is a good feeling when I am finally able to get him to sleep.
As crazy as it sounds, I am thankful for these nights...
& his little puppy dog snore that kept me awake long after he fell asleep.
When I got in bed, he rolled over and snuggled down next to my side.
Just like that I forgot all about the frustration & was totally content.
I would be perfectly happy to lie there with him,
just like that,
forever.
He woke up happy & ready to celebrate having the best dad in the world.
Campbell & I are so lucky to have Chris.
He is the kind of dad that I had hoped for when I thought about having kids.
It was like Cam knew what he was suppose to do...
he gave his dad lots of hugs all day.
Just because. Pretty cute!
To Eat: Breakfast in Bed... check
I bet no other wives/kids made a breakfast like this for their husbands/dads on Fathers Day.
Boo ya! :)
next:
To See: A Rangers Game... check
Again... the game, just like the circus, proved to be too loud for the little guy.
Have you ever seen anything cuter than a little CamMan in a Rangers hat though?
Don't lie. You haven't...
cause it isn't even possible.
We ended the night with dinner in bed while watching the Thunder game :)
Seriously, our room service total was more than our room cost for 2 nights.
Yikes!
Before heading home the next morning we made a quick stop at Ikea.
Maybe we'll actually start on "Baby E's" room now...
he'll be here in about 10 weeks!?!
Campbell proved to be the best boy once again while sleeping the whole way home!
I am so thankful we were able to get a way for the weekend.
We definitely needed it.
Although everything didn't go as planned...
as to be expected with a 1 year old calling the shots.
This trip was my kind of perfect!
