Catching Up

Im taking this baby back to 2013.

On November 7th we bought a home in Northern Phoenix.
We love the area & are loving getting settled into our own space again.
December was pretty awesome this year.
It is so fun to experience everything through Campbell’s eyes.
He started to get the whole Santa & presents thing. Kind of.
He knew he could say he wanted presents but didn’t quite piece together that it meant he could say he wanted something he had seen & liked.
He also loved to tell everyone that it was almost baby Jesus birthday.
My most favorite thing was when we took the boys on the Polar Express.
Chris & I both were so happy the whole time watching Campbell react to one of his favorite movies coming to life.
He still talks about it.
In fact, whenever he plays trains the destination is always the North Pole
The passengers get hot chocolate & cookies while they sing and read stories too.
Next time I won’t forget to take my camera! :/
A few days after Christmas, the boys & I drove to my moms in Utah with Brooke’s family.
All seven of my brothers and sisters made it at some point
… most of the spouses & nieces & nephews too.
It is so nice to be close again.

More catching up, coming your way soon :)

Campbell | 3

It’s fun having a 3 year old!
I actually remember it being one of the hardest ages as a babysitter.
So far as a mom, its my favorite.
Campbell’s view of life makes me so happy I could cry sometimes.
He feels joy & excitement in a way that makes me want to feel it too.
Everything is new & awesome for him.
He is silly & sweet.
He loves his brother, his mom & “Chris”.
It has become a normal occurrence to see Campbell hug Emerson when he is fussy/sad or just because and tell him “Jesus loves you Emer.”
I mean really?! Is he trying to destroy me with his sweetness?!
He is a normal boy though & often wants his alone time.
So he locks himself in his room.
It’s really the only way to keep Emerson out of his business.

His imagination is totally coming to life & so much fun to “watch”.

He’s a singer & a dancer.
If the song has lots of Oh’s, Yeah’s, or Whoa’s you can bet its one of his favorites.
When he’s really really loving something, he’ll dance.
Like while eating dinner at the table.
He just can’t help but shake his little bum….
which is the cutest one.
Ask him, he’ll tell you so.

This year I decided to start a little birthday questionnaire.
I asked him each question a couple times over  few days because I knew sometimes he was just being a little weirdo and saying the first thing he thought of
Here are his answers…

We had his party a couple days before his actual birthday.
He chose a cowboy theme & the whole menu.
We are thankful for everyone near and far that took time to show him how much he is loved.
And boy, he is loved!?
For his actual birthday we started with a childhood tradition of mine…
choosing any cereal you want for breakfast.
Lucky Charms of course.
While wearing his new fox backpack.
After nap time we met Uncle Miles & Uncle Cole at the train park.
Campbell is always wanting to ride in the cattle car.
Finally, he found a willing participant to join him.
You better believe I’m not about to crawl in there.
Next, the plan was to meet Chris & Grandma Polly at Chick-fil-A for dinner.
The plan got a little kinked after my phone died…
but we figured it out, sang to him AGAIN & then he blew out the candles one more time.

After bath time grandma read to the boys,
and just like that, the baby that made me a mommy had spent a whole day as a 3 year old.
